Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the opportunity, applicants have to meet certain requirements as listed below:

  • Candidates should be amicable to China and foreign nationals holding legitimate passports.
  • Candidates should be well-mannered, diligent, have outstanding grades, and be in good health.
  • Age and academic qualification requirements for applicants:
    • Applicants for undergraduate scholarships must be at least 25 years old on average and hold a degree equivalent to or higher than a Chinese high school diploma.
    • Applicants for Graduate Scholarships must be at least 30 years old and hold a bachelor’s degree.
    • Candidates for the Doctorate Scholarship should have a master’s degree and be between the ages of 35 and 40 on average.
    • All applicants for the General Scholar Scholarship must be between the ages of 40 and 40 on average. Chinese language scholars must have completed a higher school degree or above, professional scholars must have completed a bachelor’s degree or above, and university students must be enrolled in grade 2 or above.
  • Candidates for the Advanced Scholar Scholarship should be 50 years of age on average, hold a master’s degree or higher, and hold an associate professor rank or higher.
  • The level of Chinese language skill required of candidates will be determined based on the major and instruction language.
