A Background

Bradford has been designated as a Creative City of Film by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organizations), an initiative that helps filmmakers achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The scholarship program aims to foster a deeper comprehension of UNESCO’s global activity and the ways in which filmmakers may react to it.

The first-ever UNESCO City of Film is Bradford, UK. Because of the city’s rich film history, inspirational filming locations, and numerous celebrations of the moving image through film festivals, film-related events, and a distinctive method of teaching about and using film, Bradford has earned this permanent title that recognizes it as a global center for film. The School of Media Design and Technology, which runs the curriculum, houses Bradford City of Film’s offices.
