About the NetherlandsÂ
The Netherlands, known for a flat landscape of canals, windmills, cycling routes, and tulip fields, is located in northwestern Europe, with Dutch as her official language and West Frisian as a secondary official language in the Friesland province. It comprises 12 provinces; it borders Belgium to the South with a Northeast coastline to the west and the north and Germany to the East. In addition, it shares maritime borders with the United Kingdom, Germany, and Belgium in the North Sea.
Education in the Netherlands
The Netherlands is famous for its high-quality research and teaching. In the Netherlands, there is an extensive English-taught program put in place. Alongside Germany and the UK, the Netherlands is one of the top destinations for international students to pursue free studies, and about 1,560 institutions offer international study programs and courses. Out of the 1,560 programs, 1543 programs and courses are taught in English; hence, there is no need for fluency in Dutch.Â
Scholarships in the Netherlands
Netherlands scholarships, meant for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) interested in doing their bachelor’s or master’s degree in the Netherlands, are presently in place. It is an opportunity of a lifetime.Â
This scholarship is financed by a series of Dutch universities: the Dutch ministry of education and the Dutch University of applied sciences.
Scholarship worth
Though this isn’t a full-tuition scholarship, it is worth € 5,000 and is received during the first year of studies. As regards the grant, it is for 12 months, and it is to be received once. However, the amount awarded can be higher, depending on the host institution. For instance, at Utrecht University, the scholarship’s worth ranges from € 5,000 to € 15,000.
Eligibility criteria
To be considered for any of the scholarships in Holland, the applicant must be eligible by fulfilling the criteria listed below;
- You must be an international student
- You must not have a degree from a Netherlands institution
- You must be applying for a master’s or bachelor’s degree as a full-time student
