Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the opportunity, applicants have to meet certain requirements as listed below:

  • Applicants must complete their application in full collaboration with the proposed host institution.
  • Applicants must be any of the following:
    • Canadian citizens
    • Permanent residents of Canada
    • Foreign citizens
  • Applicants areas of research must be any of the following:
    • Health research
    • Natural sciences and/or engineering
    • Social sciences and/or humanities
  • The selection process will follow the lineup below:
    • Applications must be approved by host schools in order to be prepared and submitted between April and September of 2024 (institutions may have internal deadlines).
    • 2024 September 17 at 20:00 EDT: The deadline for submitting an application in its entirety
    • From October through December of 2024: Assessment of applications
    • Mid-February 2025: Results are expected to be announced. Email notifications will be sent to applicants as soon as the findings are posted on ResearchNet.
    • 2025: April through October: Payments start.

Application Procedure

Follow the process below on how to apply for the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program for the 2024-25 academic session: 

  • Applicants are required to create and submit their own applications. Ensuring the completeness of the application is the applicant’s duty. Making sure that all referee evaluations and documentation from the host university have been turned in is part of this.
  • The application package’s contents must be self-contained. The program should not contain links to files stored on a disk or to other websites.
  • The Selection committee guidance should be reviewed by applicants before they start their application. Together with helpful information on how the criteria are reviewed, this handbook includes a list of the three evaluation criteria. Applications for Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships should be prepared with a non-specialist research audience in mind, as the selection committees are comprised of members from a variety of disciplines.
