What the Scholarship Offers
The Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarships offers a funded opportunity for prospective applicants as follows:
- A minimum six-week paid 2L Summer Associate position at one of our firm’s offices during the summer of 2025 will be granted to the recipients. Furthermore, $20,000 will be given to each winner to assist with paying for the cost of law school tuition and associated fees. This money will be distributed in two installments, subject to specific conditions.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the opportunity, applicants have to meet certain requirements as listed below:
- Countries That Qualify: Available to all law students enrolled in law schools accredited by the ABA
- Acceptable Subject or Course: Scholarships available from the university for students studying law
- Acceptable Standards: To qualify, candidates need to fulfill the necessary requirements:
- the end of the first year of a full-time JD program, with 2026 as the projected graduation year
- a clear dedication to advancing inclusion, equality, and diversity (DEI)
- Academic and leadership accomplishments
- Overcoming hindrances or difficulties to achieve professional goals
- Life experiences influencing beliefs and career aspirations
- Want to work for a big legal firm
- No applicant ought to have been awarded a scholarship of such kind by a different legal practice.
- Applications are welcomed from candidates with a variety of backgrounds, such as students of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, those with disabilities, or those who add to the diversity of the legal profession.
Application Procedure
Follow the process below on how to apply for the Baker Donelson Diversity Scholarships for the 2024-25 academic session:Â
- This program term runs from Wednesday, April 3, 2024, until Friday, June 14, 2024, at midnight. All documents must be submitted using the application website available on the Baker Donelson website. A current CV, a personal statement explaining the applicant’s vision for their role at Baker Donelson, an unofficial transcript from law school, a sample of legal writing, and one professional recommendation are all required for the application process.
- Up to $20,000 will be awarded to each scholarship winner to help with their legal study. They will also receive a minimum salary of six weeks in a paid 2L Summer Associate role at one of Baker Donelson’s offices in the summer of 2025. Ten thousand dollars will be granted following the summer associate clerkship, and another ten thousand dollars will be awarded upon acceptance of an associate job and law school graduation.
