To be eligible for the Africa Scholarship, applicants must hold an offer to study one of the specified postgraduate courses at the University of Sheffield and register for the course in September 2024. The scholarship is competitive, and a panel of senior staff members will select the strongest application based on academic excellence, a clear rationale for studying at the University of Sheffield, and overcoming challenges to academic and professional progress.

The scholarship cannot be deferred, and students taking a leave of absence will not be eligible to receive the award when they return to their studies. The deadline to apply for the University of Sheffield Africa Scholarship is 1pm (UK time) on Tuesday, 28 May 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the opportunity, applicants have to meet certain requirements as listed below:

• You must be accepted into one of the following programs and register for the course at the University of Sheffield in September 2024:
  • MA in International Development MPH in International Development MSc in Environmental Change and International Development
  • For the purpose of paying your tuition, you have to be considered abroad.
• You cannot get this prize if you are supported by a research council, the government, a charity, a private company, or any other organization of a like nature. You must be self-funded.
• You cannot already possess a degree that is higher than or equal to a master’s. 
• You cannot have already attended school abroad.
• Neither the University of Sheffield nor any outside funding sources may be used in combination with this scholarship to provide additional funds.
• You are required to be present full-time.
• If you fulfill any requirements associated with your offer by the deadline set by the Admissions Service, you will receive the scholarship.
• Before September 2, 2024, you must get an unconditional offer to enroll in the university’s program.
• The scholarship will only be awarded if the recipient is granted a valid student visa for September 2024.
• You have to be an African national or have a permanent address in an African nation.

Application Procedure

• Once you’ve gotten an offer, you’ll need to use your applicant login information to get to the application form.
• Before the end of June 2024, applicants will get a notification on the status of their application.
