Candidates will have the chance to work alongside a team of experts in applied and computational mathematics, engaging in innovative research to harness the power of ocean waves. This scholarship not only provides financial support but also a platform for students to make a significant impact in the field of sustainable energy.

A Background

Successful applicants will receive a stipend scholarship of $32,192 per annum for up to three years while undertaking a QUT PhD or 1.75 years for an MPhil. This tax-exempt stipend ensures that researchers can focus on their studies without financial worry. Additionally, domestic students will receive an Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Fee Offset, and international students will be granted a tuition fee sponsorship for their research degree.

The research will involve developing mathematical and numerical models for piezoelectric wave energy converters, which are devices that convert the mechanical energy of waves into electrical energy. This project is particularly focused on flexible piezoelectric materials that have the potential to revolutionize the way we capture and utilize the vast energy present in ocean waves. The scholarship remains open until filled or until the closing date of 30 September 2024, whichever comes first.
