David Johnston – Lebovic Foundation International Experience Awards at the University of Waterloo, Canada 2024-25

A Background

Annually, the University of Waterloo awards a handful of scholarship funding options to full-time undergraduates and graduates, which cuts across all facilities and departments. This funding helps the international student experience, specifically in Israel. 

Established by the Joseph and Wolf Lebovic Foundation, the award is also designed to appreciate and celebrate David Johnston’s dedication to the success of international students during his 11-year tenure as president.

What the Scholarship Offers

The David Johnston – Lebovic Foundation International Experience Awards offers funding for undergraduate and master applicants across all international countries. Also, irrespective of your course of study,  the International Experience Awards at the University of Waterloo is for all and sundry.

With this scholarship, successful applicants stand to get the following:

  • The benefit of the David Johnston – Lebovic Foundation International Experience Awards is divided into two parts, namely:
    • Study Experience: Up to $2,500 for one term
    • Work/Volunteer Experience: $2,500 to $5,000 for one term; up to $10,000 for two terms

Eligibility Criteria

  • Participants: Full-time undergraduate and graduate students in any Faculty
  • Experience: International experiences in Israel, including co-op, volunteer work, or study related to academic requirements
  • Academic Standing: Minimum 70% average for undergraduates; 75% for graduates
  • Selection: Based on academic merit and the nature and duration of the experience
  • Course Accessibility: All programs
  • Citizenship Eligibility: Canadian citizens/permanent residents, International students with a study permit

Application Procedure

The application window opens on 1 June 2024.

  • Form: Complete the International Experience Award application
  • Requirement: One form for consideration for most funds
  • Access: Available on the Undergraduate Studies Forms page
  • Submission Dates: July 15, November 15
