What the Scholarship Offers

The Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship at Sussex University offers a funded opportunity for prospective applicants as follows:

• Applications evaluated as “Home” will pay £3,000 in fees, while those assessed as “Overseas” will pay £5,000 in fees.

Eligibility Criteria

Please note that eligibility varies across each of the available fellowships, and as such, eligibility for every fellowship will be stated. To be eligible for the opportunity, applicants have to meet certain requirements as listed below:

• Having completed their Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree at a university in the UK or Ireland and have accepted an offer of a spot on an eligible full- or part-time Masters program beginning in September 2024. have achieved, or plan to earn, a First.
• You’re applying to the University as a student who pays international fees.
• The following students are not eligible:
  • Students submitting a Master’s application to a university other than Sussex.
  • Advancing to Sussex’s final year of an integrated master’s program.
    • 2024 graduates from Sussex University.
  • Graduates who finished their undergraduate studies abroad through an external program or campus of a UK university.
• Excluded Programs: This scholarship is not available for the following courses:
  • PGCE and other certificates and diplomas.
  • Classes at IDS and Brighton and Sussex Medical School.
  • Early Childhood Education, Social Work degrees with NHS bursaries, and courses for school direct instruction.
  • Online training programs.
  • Research councils (such as ESRC 1+3) sponsor master’s degrees.

Application Procedure

Follow the process below on how to apply for the Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship at Sussex University for the 202425 academic session: 

• You must possess, or anticipate obtaining, a First Class UK or Irish Bachelor’s degree, as well as having received and accepted an offer of a spot on an appropriate Masters program at Sussex, to be eligible for the Chancellor’s Masters Scholarship. 
• To be considered for the scholarship, you must submit an academic interest statement. You have to include details regarding:
  • Your prior success and distinction in the classroom
  • Your post-Masters academic and professional goals, whatever employment or extracurricular activities you have participated in that are related to your Masters.
