About the Scholarship
The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals offers a unique opportunity for international students to pursue master’s degrees in Sweden. With a focus on advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, this scholarship aims to foster a network of global leaders committed to positively impacting their home countries.
The scholarship is open for full-time, one- or two-year master’s programs taught in English at Swedish universities. It covers a variety of academic fields, including over 700 programs.

The scholarship is for master’s programs.
Scholarship Benefits
The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals includes:
- Full tuition fee coverage, paid directly to the university.
- A monthly living allowance of SEK 12,000 for the duration of studies.
- A travel grant of SEK 15,000 (or SEK 10,000 for select countries).
- Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) for career development and networking.
- Access to the SI Alumni Network for lifelong professional connections.
Note: The scholarship does not cover:
- Insurance or additional family grants.
- Application fees to Swedish universities.
- Extensions or changes to the awarded scholarship period.
Eligible Nationalities
The scholarship is open to citizens of 33 countries, including:
Asia and Africa: Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Zambia, etc.
Europe and the Americas: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Ukraine, etc.
Please note: Applicants with dual citizenship in eligible countries must choose one nationality for their application.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries.
- Be liable to pay tuition fees at Swedish universities.
- Have applied and been admitted to an eligible master’s program.
- Demonstrate work experience relevant to sustainable development (minimum 3,000 hours for most regions).
- Provide evidence of leadership experience, either from employment or civil society involvement.
Ineligible Applicants:
- Those already holding Swedish or EU/EEA citizenship.
- Those who have previously studied in Sweden for over two years.
- Current or past recipients of Swedish Institute scholarships.
